The regular CPM course is semiannual, with a total duration of 10 (ten) semesters (5 years), and is offered free of charge (classes and teaching material).
There are classes for students of all levels of English language proficiency.
Cidadão Pró-Mundo’s English courses are completely free and include teaching materials from the University of Cambridge (one of the best in the world).
Each semester, students attend classes once a week, on Saturdays or Sundays, depending on the Teaching Unit in which they study.
Those activities are sent to students the weekend before the lessons, with a deadline of before the next lesson;
With the participation of teachers and students, once a week;
Homework, which must be done after class, with a deadline before the next class.
After completing 10 semester modules (5 years) , students complete the CPM course with a B1 level of English proficiency (intermediate level), which is equivalent to the third level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages CEFR.

There are classes for students of all levels. Candidates who do not meet the prioritization criteria may still apply for the course, provided they are aware of the following conditions:
Be between 11 and 25 years old (for in-person Teaching Units) or 16 and 25 years old (for virtual Teaching Unit)
To have studied (or currently studying) in a public school for all years of elementary and high school (if already at this educational level).

Students, former students, collaborators or beneficiaries of CPM partners;
Order of online registration (date and time of completion of the online registration form);
Currently, Cidadão Pró-Mundo has 10 Units, 7 in the state of São Paulo, 1 in the state of Rio de Janeiro and 2 online Units, Virtual and CPM Qualify.
As part of the process, all candidates must complete an online application, which includes an English proficiency test. The proficiency test is not eliminatory , but it is extremely important, since:
a) it is used to check the most suitable class for each future student;
b) the level of knowledge of English is a key factor in filling places in our classes, since places are limited and there must be vacancies available in the classes that will receive those who applied.
Once all applicants have met the requirements, those who have been pre-selected must submit (using an online form that will be indicated in due course) a copy/photo of a photo ID (such as an ID card or driver’s license) and proof of education that confirms what was stated at the time of registration. The proof can be a school transcript or a statement from the school, as long as it mentions all the years attended. Please note that only those who submit the documents correctly at this stage will be considered for the vacancies.
The English level test indicates the most suitable class for each applicant. As well as taking into account the number of places available for each class in each Teaching Unit, we use a list of criteria to prioritize those who have applied and to select those who are successful if two applicants have the same profile. The criteria are considered in the following order, according to the modality of the Teaching Unit:
In-person Teaching Units
1º – Be between 11 and 25 years old by February 1st (for those applying for places on the course starting in the 1st semester of the year) or by August 1st (for those applying for places on the course starting in the 2nd semester of the year);
2º – Study (or have studied) in a public school during all the years of elementary school and secondary school (if the candidate has reached this level);
3º – Study (or have studied) at a private school, on a full scholarship, during all the years of primary and secondary school (if the applicant has reached this level);
4º – Be a student, former student, collaborator or beneficiary of CPM’s partners;
5º – Order of online registration (date and time of completion of the online registration form);
Virtual Teaching Unit
1º – Do not live in cities where CPM has physical Teaching Units;
2º – Be between 11 years old (birthday on or before March 31st of the year the course starts) and 25 years old (age on March 31st of the year the course starts);
3º – Study (or have studied) in a public school during all the years of elementary school and secondary school (if the candidate has reached this level);
4º – Study (or have studied) at a private school, on a full scholarship, during all the years of primary and secondary school (if the applicant has reached this level);
5 – Be a student, former student, employee or beneficiary of CPM’s partners;
6th – Order of online registration (date and time of completion of the online registration form).
Registering with more than one school does not increase your chances of getting a place . Check the location and class times at our schools and choose the one that is most convenient for you. Multiple registrations from the same person will be eliminated and only the first submission will be considered.
Selected candidates will receive an email from Cidadão Pró-Mundo confirming that they have been offered a place on the course. This email will be sent at least 3 weeks before the start of classes (by mid-July 2024).
As some Teaching Units have a 2nd call for vacancies, it is possible that some candidates will still be contacted later, within a maximum period of up to 2 weeks after the start of classes (until mid-August 2024).
CPM does not work with waiting lists. If there is any eventuality in one of our Teaching Units that prevents them from enrolling all selected people, a priority list is created for the next semester.
If this is your case, you must fill out the online application form again when it opens, indicating that your name is on the priority list of the Educational Institution where you wish to study. Only candidates who fill out the form again will be considered. You will have priority in the selection process as long as you present proof of enrollment, demonstrating that you were on the priority list.
Transfers to another Teaching Unit are not permitted during the enrollment process, that is, you must take the English course at the Unit where you registered to be a student. If you are selected for the vacancy but are unable to take the course, you must drop out of the course at that time and re-register next semester at another Teaching Unit.
The number of places available at each Teaching Unit varies and changes from one semester to the next. Several factors influence the number of places available, such as the number of classes available at the Unit, the number of volunteers and the English level of the candidates. Sometimes, some Units do not open places for new students in a given semester.
With the aim of offering opportunities for social and professional integration, Cidadão Pró-Mundo offers free English courses to young people and adults from public schools.
